Our annual general meetings are an opportunity to get together as an association to network, stay up to date with the direction of our organization, and vote for the board of directors who represent the Acheson Business Association.
We will be serving a delicious lunch, followed by our keynote speaker, Ed Secondiak, who will be discussing Cannabis in the Workplace. Finally, we will end the event by announcing and presenting awards to the recipients of our Acheson Business Awards.
Meet our speaker:
Ed Secondiak will be presenting on Cannabis in the Workplace. The presentation will provide information on what employers need to know, understand and how to address in regards to the use of cannabis and medical cannabis by an employee in safety and non-safety sensitive positions.
Ed Secondiak is President of ECS Safety Services Ltd. which he founded in 1995 after a career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Ed has extensive experience (six plus years) in undercover drug enforcement and providing expert evidence in our various Provincial Courts. He has initiated employee drug education training on the drillships in the Beaufort Sea prior to any form of drug testing being available.
Ed has been involved in all aspects of drug and alcohol testing across Canada including providing successful testimony at arbitration hearings in Ontario. For a five-year period, Ed was the Drug Consultant for the Mackenzie Gas Pipeline.
Ed has provided training for the office of the Alberta Provincial Privacy Commissioner, Manufactures Health and Safety Association, ENFORM, Aboriginal Human Resource Development Council of Canada, Saskatchewan WCB and numerous and various industries across Canada. Ed has provided Substance Abuse Prevention Policies for various union and non-union industries and government agencies across Canada.
